Carlisle Extension

The project began as a ground floor extension in North London, with a simple and restrained design approach that helped control construction costs. As the brief evolved, it expanded to include a garden redesign and a dormer extension at roof level.

Interventions to the existing house were kept minimal, focusing on improving everyday living rather than restructuring the entire layout. The new extension creates a combined living and dining space that has become the most used part of the home.

Zinc cladding and slim aluminium frames strengthen the connection between interior and exterior, allowing daylight deep into the plan and creating a more fluid relationship between house and garden.
