Winifred House

This East London project was commissioned by a young family with two children, transforming an early 20th-century end-of-terrace house into a long-term home beyond a conventional extension.

Located beside a London Underground line, the design introduces a protective external layer, using a perforated brick screen to filter light, movement and noise while creating a calm buffer to the interior.

The scheme includes a double-storey and roof extension with a full internal reconfiguration, where daylight and circulation define a calm, minimalist interior focused on clarity and simplicity. A simple terrace connects the house to a largely natural garden, allowing the building to sit quietly within its context.
